wrong, wrong, wrong. Power consumption goes up as the square of the clock speed. Every time the clock ticks, the processor does work. The more voltage you push, the "harder" it does the work. If you have less clock ticks, you do less work. edit: here's another example. You buy a brand new...

I do that, too. Standby-ing the graphics card, however, isn't an option when I am websurfing, word processing, or the like.

Multi-Display with only One Card

I have run a dual monitor setup through an ATI x1900XT and then nvidia 8800GT. I have not run any benchmarks, but I've never noticed a difference if I disable the second monitor or not. So there might be a difference, but it's small, and it's outweighed by the fact that I can display things on...

My experience with a 2600XT

How could the 8xxx series, in general, stutter in Unreal 2 games when the 9600GT is basically the same as the 8800GT? I could understand if there were issues with the old G80s, because the hardware is different, but a G92 is a G92; if it works on the 9600GT it should should work just as well...

Why did you buy last-gen tech when you can get a 3650 for under $50 after MIR? It will perform about the same, or better, and use less power.

Here's another vote for the 3450. If you are doing NO 3D gaming at all, there is no reason to get anything faster. You will just spend more money up front, use more power, and create more heat. However, if you want to game even a little, then for the money you can't beat the 3650. Two people...

About re-applying TIM, it's my belief that an individual with minimal investment and knowledge can do a far better job applying TIM than the factory job. I've never come across a product that had a good TIM applied in an ideal fashion. You can surely improve your temps by at least 1C by applying...
