Would my 2500k with an overclock be a bottleneck with an RX480 or GTX 1060? I have purchased both top tier and mid range cards in the past and always feel better about the value I get from a mid-range unit. If I can get one more GPU upgrade out of the platform I am running I will be ecstatic...
Hello anand it's been a while. I haven't done any PC gaming for about 2 years but life has me home a lot more lately and I'm thinking of getting back into it. Been out of it for so long I don't know what my hardware can really handle anymore and I'm looking for some advice. My rig is as follows...
Thanks for the info, cooling in my case shouldn't be an issue but I do need a good air cooler for the 2500k before I can oc much I'm thinking a hyper 212 and a oc around 4.5ghz should limit the bottleneck. I have to say the 2500k was a great value for how long it has stayed relevant...
I have a z68 motherboard and a 2500k which I am still happy with because I primarily am concerned with gaming performance. I am probably going to add a second gtx 760 this fall and I just realized I don't think z68 supports two pcie slots at x16 is this correct? If it does not is there any...
Just got around to installing my GTX760 and I noticed in dxdiag and the system info in the driver windows is allocating 2gb of ram to video memory giving me a total of 4gb. Should this be disabled for better performance or is the shared ram only going to be used for windows applications? I...
Right now I would go for a gtx760 which I just bought myself. I had a 7970 at release but ended up selling it for financial reasons and havent been gaming since last fall anyway. I got the gaming itch recently and snagged a 760 for two reasons. I think the 760 has the price/performance crown...
Whats the point of having a card capable of running textures on ultra without the vram to push it. I game at 1080p and have seen usage biting at the heels of 2 gb. A little future proofing never hurts and theres no point in having a card that is bottlenecked by vram.
I remember staring at the voodoo cards under the counter at our local computer store. I grew up in a smallish town and it was all mom and pop computer places that pretty much charged whatever they wanted... I've toyed with the idea of building a vintage gaming rig but I wouldn't have the time...
Based off of that chart the 520m is actually substantially slower then the gpu in the envy. In all honesty finding a gaming laptop that is going to make you feel like you got your money worth is hard to do in the price range at all. I have an Alienware M15x and it was around $2300 new. It was...
Oh ok I did not know if you were considering only a laptop. I guess the envy isn't a bad deal but I don't think you'll be happy with the 6630m its a pretty weak gpu.
Here is a comparison of all notebook gpu's available...
Really if your going to spend that much on a laptop and care about gaming there are better choices in that price range. Does it have to be a laptop? If you want to go budget and get maximum performance you could build or even buy a pc that will SMOKE that envy. Don't forget that down the road...
Op not to be a downer but 20 fps with that gpu is kind of a pipe dream if anything is going on on the screen. You could consider a laptop in the $400 range used such as one of the earlier m11x. Do you have an lcd monitor or hdmi capable tv to use as a monitor? If so consider building a budget...
