thanks everyone, i went for a 2.2ghz p4 m. It runs at 1.3v and is also a northwood (like my celeron) so fingers crossed!!! Along with an extra 512MB of RAM it should be a decent upgrade.

can the metal cover be taken off or do I have to re work the heatsink to fit? At the moment there seems to be some kind of aluminum foil that is used as the main transfer compound but that only suits the small core only chips rather than the ones with the cover.

Is it just cache or is there more to it. I'm upgrading my laptop from a 2.0Ghz Celeron to a P4 of 2.2 or 2.4 depending what I can find and I was wondering what the actual difference in the chips is.

I have XP on the first partition and Vista on the second, how do I remove Vistas boot loader from the first partition and then get it to boot XP as normal. I see that boot.ini has been changed by the installation of Vista, do I just change it back to the way it was and then delete all the Vista...
just used the backitup feature of nero and it backed up the entire boot drive in windows right to dvd. I even tried to restore it and it worked great.

I've got a hard drive with WINXP set up just how I like it (2.7GB worth). How can I back it up to a dvd-r so if I ever have any trouble I can go back to this backup drive. I just want to have a good starting point insyead of reinstalling every time

I'm dual booting ME and XP and when I choose safe mode in the F8 menu it just boots up regular style. is there something else I can do because I want to install the 4in1's in safe mode.

I've just overclocked my 1gig t-bird by lowering the multiplier and pushing up the FSB and sandra gives me the same results as before. What's going on, I thought this was a good way of improving performance.
Yes, it's as if nothing has happened when I put the 750 back, it boots up fine. I've used a more up to date bios and that made no difference. Could it be faulty? I can't beleive it would boot up if that was the case but I'm running out of ideas.
I've just changed my 750 T-bird for a 1Ghz chip and everything has gone bonkers. I can't get into Windows, it freezes where scan disk would kick in and that's as far as I've got. I can get into safe mode no problem so I assume it's not the processor. I am running the new chip at default settings...
