Just to update:
The ud5 board is soo easy to oc. I'm a noob oc'er and the ud5 was sooo easy to oc. BLCK up to 180, memory profile to extreme setting 1 (corsair dominator 2gb x 3 1600), everything else on auto...stable 3.8ghz with 2hrs prime95 (too lazy to do longer) but temps do get up...
Posts first time on. Had a little trouble setting up raid 0 (my first time setting up a raid), but all running fine. Windows vista ultimate x64 fully updated and booted first time. Bios updated and screwed up my raid. Had to start over and reinstall everything!!!! Remember on next bios...
Thanks to everyone who helped. All parts are in and build is underway. Upgraded graphics card because splurged on new monitor 30" needing to drive 2500x1600.
Good point. And a future sli of the gtx 285 would be awesome. I wouldn't want to buy 2 right now, however, because I think they are overpriced. And i'd be a little worried about the lone 285 driving my 30" @ 2500x1600.
Lets throw in another kicker. The 285 on sale is the xfx.
I'm...
Again, I don't hate the 4870 x2. I actually prefer the underdog. I feel that its more technologically advanced at a better value. However, I'm not willing to suffer thru driver problems...and can afford not to. My time is worth more to me...I don't want to have "issues" with drivers. When...
I think the numbers show that gtx 260 in sli will cost more than the gtx 295 and be a little slower than the 295.
New info...just bought a 30" monitor (IPS) resolution 2500x1600 so now really need a sli or dual option!
Again leaning toward the 295 because afraid of ati drivers playing nice...
again, im shyin away from ati because of driver support issues esp with x58/i7. if driver suport was equal, no contest id get 4870x2...
some more info...also gettin either a 26' lcd 1900x1200 or 30' lcd 2500xwhatever...so i am leanin even more toward the 295. also considerin the xfx 285 for...
Well, I just wanted to get a board from a company that address' bios issues. I wasn't happy with my asus board when they never released any bios updates. I'm all for don't update if you don't have problems, but I want the company to be responsive to problems! Knowing that gigabyte is...
Wow...very pithy loller! At least someone is rooting for the asus board...any comments about it? Experience with it? I'm a little leery cause there's not much experience with it yet.
