This is a DO and a DON'T from Corsair themself:
Dear Valued Customer,
There is a limitation with the Athlon 64 which causes the memory controller which is built on to the CPU to run memory at DDR333 when more than 2 banks are filled. This is a limitation on the processor itself and not...
Got mine inverted. I have no problems anymore by glueing a cooler onto the heatblock on the mcp... 53°C under load.
Only change with new bios is the PCIe frequency then... no need to bother then.
My UltraCool II Digital is installed and I had stuck the temp sensor right on top of the "fanless" chunk of metal-do-nothing-for-my-up-side-down-mobo and guess how much it went: 80°C... I couldn't bear to see that so I immediately shut it down and started doing some modding... got it back to...
Are you serious about the 2.8? 2.7V seemed a lot already, but I dare, but 2.8 would kill it, won't it?
Damn hell I havent thought of that!!! Now you tell me and I do understand this very good!!! There's some more other bad sh** about that: it's just underneath the PCIe X16/X8SLI, so there is...
I had a working system for a couple of hours. Everything was installed from the CD that came with the mobo, just to make sure I took those drivers: these are the ones used by asus themself before before production, so they had to work. They worked untill I re-installed everything 32 bit instead...
I have no readings either:
Antec TrueControl 550W with RPM cable to connect to mobo.
The ASUS A8N-SLI Premium booklet also says that the only CHA_FAN1 and CPU_FAN (CPU_FAN synched with CHIPSET_FAN, which is not used of course) are Q-FAN's: higher RPM on higher temps.
This gives me a...
My rig is working fine now. It's been running prime95 the whole night, at least for about 10hours. My timings are now at: 2 3 3 8 1T, i've tried the 2 2 2 6 1T without changing voltages.
What I noticed though is that video performance is quite poor I guess. I'm only getting 3DMark05 at 9895...
This is what I have now and the "* will become" is what it's gonna be in the end. The RAM is updated and runs fine. Did two memtest 3.2 win for 200% on 813Mb per memtest. My timings: 2.5 3 3 8 1T.. so i'm quite happy. Although CPU-Z says it runs at 201Mhz? Shouldn't that be 400?
I can recall...
this is hilarious. the support guys from ASUS are all the time on an opium trip. Here is there answer on my question what type of RAM would work if I wanted to use the four modules:
Dear Firend,
Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.
My name is Zane and I would be assisting...
Aaaah thank you guys. You're giving me hope again.
I've just found out what Wanderer27 found out on his own concerning the RAM and detection.
Corsair has a case of their own saying that you have to hard set the speeds and voltages for the RAM...
Thanks for the constructive posts.
I'll be most likely trying different RAM in the first place.
Tomorrow: 2*1024Mb Corsair C2 as in the booklet and with only 2 modules another fricking ?300
Everything on Auto if not working: RMA a million times untill it works :P
My next system 955X P4...
I'm starting this topic in order to concentrate all of the available information on this one motherboard and hope to get a sticky. I'm completely fed up with ASUS and this board things need to be addressed asap. I do know for some it does work and even some do get good scores with overclocking...
If you keep your stock fan and keep the cover plate on their and you make the mod suck air, you can fry the stock cooler as it over revs :)
Hey very nice mod, and i'm going to do this as well on my two 7800GTX's... I only have to check up front if i'have the space for it.
BF2 takes about 812Mb while my OS already has 270Mb standard. Some parts are internally in windows flagged to go to the paging file anyways. I had been looking to disable the paging file when having 4GB, but since it doesn't support the 4G well and there is a lot of tweaking to do to get a...
