[Retired] The LCD Thread

I am looking for a 24" monitor for the computer in my sig. I use it 40% for game, 30% for movie 20% for surfing and 10% for office work. My budget is flexible, my speaker system works great so I don't need a monitor with speakers attached, HDMI is not necessary for me. I want a good quality...

How to balance performance with quality in game setting

Unlike console games, PC gamers have the luxury of choosing different graphic settings. And I am just wondering... in order to get the best performance & quality, what are the settings that gives the best qualities and what are the settings that having them on will only give small improvement...

I am using CCC's overdrive to OC the video card, how do I adjust fan speed to lower idle temp while it would still know to adjust its speed under load?

Radeon HD Video cards

If I connect an LCD TV and the video card with HDMI cable, does it mean TV speaker will play the sound or is it still the PC speakers?

I think he is getting a really good deal getting an antac casing, Corsair 620HX, P5K mobo, Q6600 with a good fan, Radeon 4550HD, 640GB HD, 2GB ram, dvd burner and sound card for about US$300 albeit used except the video card. His motherboard don't even have a pci-e slot, its upgrade potential...
