Should I be worried about this hard drive?

Used in "very good" condition on Amazon. The SATA to USB adapter for the enclosure also had similar coloring, so it has me concerned (but the price was really good).

Well, I've come down to the conclusion that I'm going to get some sort of Atom Windows 8 tablet, just because of a) better performance than Windows RT tablets with about the same battery life and b) the flexibility to run x86 programs. Basically the two attractive choices are the Asus...

That could be an interesting idea if I can get a $75 off coupon to apply. Are the Atom tablets just as smooth with Win 8 as the ARM tablets are with Win RT? I had a really poor experience with the original Atom in a netbook.

How long of a wait are we talking for Haswell? Tegra 4 is still a few months away too, right? If it's like 6+ months away, I'm not waiting that long. I suppose I could get a Nexus 7 or something simple and less expensive to tide me over (but no video out, no microSD)...

Is it worth upgrading my Intel 80GB X-25M G2?

What happens if it's in IDE vs AHCI mode? I have tried switching to AHCI mode before but then I lose the ability to boot from my SSD. I don't know if this is a function of motherboard or the fact that I installed Windows when the controller was set to legacy/IDE mode.

How well do older digital cameras stack up?

In terms of P&Ss, I have an Olympus FE360 and my girlfriend has a Canon SD630, so they are getting a bit dated too. Thanks for the detailed responses - I only have time right now to skim them, but I will take re-read them this afternoon. :)

I'm about to graduate with the wrong degree (for me)

How do I get into something like that? Whenever I look at the career sites for Dell, IBM, HP, Apple, etc. I can't seem to find anything relating to MEs. Whether it's servers, desktops, laptops, phones, data centers - it's all something that I would like to be involved with.
