if i'm not mistaken, lsass is the win32 subsystem of nt/2k/xp. the kernel runs on a different model than win32, and this program executes all the win32 code. so it is rather important. u won't be able to kill it if you tried, it's a kernel process.
not only that, if you're using ntfs it uses the disk much more because it keeps logs of file updates and just about everything you do to the filesystem. that is normal for xp, 2k, and nt4.
same here. maybe symantec wasn't using an updated ntfs spec when it programmed ghost. btw, is 6.51 version 2001 or 2002? cuz 2002 is supposed to work with xp/ntfs but it doesn't for me. 2001 also quits but with a different error.
simply copy the i386 folder from the windows cd to the notebook drive and run winnt32.exe or winnt.exe, depending whether you are in dos or in windows when you are installing
they don't need to get rid of it... they just need to move it somewhere else and put a more useful button there. those windows keys and the right click key work pretty well... maybe microsoft can come up with another key for windows.
are you using the server capabilities for anything? if so, then don't. actually, just stick with win2k, it works just as well and in some cases better than xp. xp is like win me.... a downgrade for $99
solution to oe taking forever to load, shamelessly ripped off somewhere on the net:
For some users when they remove windows messenger or just disable it from starting up automatically they experience a great slow down when launching Outlook express. Users who experience such a slow down will...
well from my experience i kept win2k up for close to 2 months, actively playing games and running as a webserver. it's not the os that is unstable, it's just the stuff u install :)
