How long for a CPU to burn

Thanks all I've tried it without unplugging the fan but the noise is so big, I can't figure out which part does it. The only part I have'nt changed beside the CPU fan is the HD, and I really whish this noise is not comming from my HD. I'll keep you guys posted.

There is some bad noise going on inside my case and I suspect it's my CPU fan. I'm wondering if I unplug the fan for 10sec to see if it's the source of the noise, would that be enough to damage my CPU ?

Mobo suggestion for Intel 920D

Thanks I was looking at such a board, but I may be looking at a lower priced one. I was thinking of an ASUS P5LD2 Deluxe or something similar. Do you know this board ?

Mobo suggestion for Intel 920D

I'm going to buy an Intel P4 920D Dual core and I would like to know which motherboard would suit me best. I have used Asus a lot before and I would prefer that company, but I'm open to change if someone think a better deal is elsewhere. I want an external SATA port, good onboard audio...

Cannot read text on my HDTV

I did not purchase the component adapter for the radeon yet, so right now I'm getting the signal from a S-Video.

Cannot read text on my HDTV

I am using a AIW 9600 Pro and I want to use my 42' HDTV as an output. I was able to make it work fine, but the text is so small and blurred that I have problems reading it. I know that's the problem with TV-out, but I was wondering if there is a solution to this. Is there a way to have my TV...

I got a Athlon 3200+ in my 2500+ boxe ?

I bought an Athlon XP 2500+ with 333 FSB, well that's what my invoice and the boxe says, but when I use a diagnostic tool like Asus, AIDA32 or Free Diagnose, they all say I have a Barthon 3200+ Is there a way I can be sure what kind of CPU I have ? Can the diagnotic be wrong ? Thanks

Router question

Thanks N4S Anyone have some sugestion for a good router who would meet those specific need ? I would probably need one with more than 4 port cause I may add more PC later.

Router question

Hi, I want to build a new network at home and since I'm kind of new to this side of computing, I'm looking for advices. I want to network 2 PC and a XBox and share my internet connection betwen those 3 devices. Is there a router that I could plug my cable modem into who would automaticly share...

What memory for me ?

Thanks a lot for all this information, it help me a lot. So let's say I buy 2 dimm of 256 meg - 2700, should I set it's speed to 266mhz to get the best performance ?

Does that mean that I will have worst performance with a 333mhz memory until I get a 333mhz memory bus ? Cause if paying more for a 333mhz memory give me less power than with cheaper 266mhz, I should go to 266 until I get a cpu with a faster memory bus ? Do I get you right ?

What memory for me ?

I'm going to buy some DDR this week while they are cheap. I will put it on a Asus A7N8X Deluxe. I want 512 meg total. I was looking at the TwinX 512 2700 from Corsair. A pair of 256 meg who is suposed to be excellent on a NForce 2 mobo Is it worth it ? Any other suggestion ? Cause they are...
