Best/Fastest 1TB/1.5TB internal 3.5" HDD?

Manual image correction possible?

The best technique would be to take the first photo in shutter priority, note the settings after metering and then just use the same settings in manual mode. That way there shouldn't be ay difference in exposure between the three shots.

Cheap SLR accessories worth using?

Get a DSLR with video IMO. It's more flexible because you can use all types of lenses and produce effects impossible with a camcorder.

Canon Rebel Ti1 or Nikon D5000?

I have the rebel XS and love it. I'd say go with the T1i, you wont regret it. If I were to buy a Nikon, I'd opt for a D90. But then again the 50D would be just around the corner price-wise, so I'd end up with it :) I know you said but really why not consider a mint used 40D for the same price...

How would you spend $2500?

If I were in your shoes I'd probably go for either a used 5D with a 17-40mm F4L, a portrait prime (lots of choices), 70-200mm F4L + Canon TC 1.4x or a 40D, 50D plus a tokina 11-16mm F2.8, Tamron 17-50mm F2.8, a portrait prime and again 70-200mm F4L. Toss in a macro lens, a light tripod and maybe...

I've looked at sample images from both the 17-85 and 18-55 and 100% crops. I know the 17-85 is notorious with barrel distorsion and vignetting at 17~20mm but I'm not sure about chromatic aberration and resolution degradation in corners. 17-85's images are sharper though, its AF is a lot...

Umm, while I agree 50D isn't huge compared to the XSI, it is quite bigger and probably can feel somewhat unconfortable in smaller hands. It's heavier too. That said, I'd choose a 50D over a T1i (or 40D for that matter) any day :biggrin:
