using compressed air to totally clean out the agp slot didn't work same problem remains sigh looks like i've gotta upgrade the entire machine

hey thanks for the response! ha running windows xp sp2 and i already did a reformat after i put in the new video card all the fans are working (have one air intake in the front and one out the back) and i did clean out the machine somewhat when i put in the new vid card, but i'll do a more...

I've already diagnosed the problem to be the video card. (was a Geforce4 ti4200) So i went out to buy a new card... bought a AH3650 (model number different cuz i'm in asia?) anyway, i put in that tank of a video card, and now my system is stable, but i get weird... not artifacts... but let's...

dual monitor question

yep did that (restarted computer after plugging in second monitor) and i made the monitors the same resolution at 1024x768 just in case that had anything to do with it. not stupid! thanks for responding! i know there must be some small detail i missed.

i can't seem to get dual monitors to work on my geforce4 ti4200 (asus v8420). i have a 19" benq fp931 and a 15" aoc lm-500. right now the 19" is on dvi and the 15" is plugged into the analog. i was under the impression that i could just plug in the second monitor to get dual monitors to...

Speakers almost dead

haha well i ended up buying a new audigy 2 value and there was nearly no difference...(volume wise) so i don't know what's wrong. haha... maybe i AM going deaf.

Thanks for all the responses. I connected my speakers to my onboard sound, and the same thing happens. Requires me to turn up the volume to a level that I normally wouldn't need to turn it up to. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Speakers almost dead

Wondering how you know your speakers are nearing the end of their lifespan. My Altec Lansing 251's require a higher volume to hear them now. But I'm also worried whether or not my sound card is to blame for this. I have a philips seismic edge (psc705) 5.1 sound card. For example, my volume...
