The Athlon x4 is not an apu as I already have an hd6870 I don't need the on chip graphics. For 80 dollars I was wondering if those 2 could combine for a decent gaming experience.
I am going to be replacing my sons very old pc(core 2 6400, 4870) this Christmas. I was considering using the amd x4 Richland due to it having 4 cores and over clocking coupled with the 80$ price tag. The Core i3 is a consideration but pricier and fewer cores. He is currently using a 1280 x 1024...
I'm a little concerned that the 7750 will be bottlenecked by the really craptastic pd that's in there. I'm wondering if a gt440 will perform similarly in this configuration.
I salvaged a dell optiplex 620 from work, barely used but it was destined for trash due to its age. It's running 4 gig ddr2 667 pentium d 945 3.4ghz 305 watt powersupply, 19in 720p lcdtv, and a fresh install of winxp. Dell never released a bios update to allow core series chips so this pd is...
I see this made its way to steam from xbox live. It has received a lot of praise and I have to say it looks like a refreshing change from all the 3d stuff I have been playing. Anyone played this?
I have a 6870 core i5 and a 1360x768 lcd tv. at that res the 6870 easily handles games that i play, but for the same price you can get a 7850 1gb which is a bit faster and a better overclocker.
I have a e2200 on a second pc (2.2ghz) driving a 4870 and even that old card is not able to really flourish with that cpu. 7800 with an E4400 is a waste imo
Thanks for all the info, i will probably buy a better router first and see how it goes. Can't, well don't really want to move my router and modem so I'll just throw some money at it and see what happens.
if you're gaming at 1080p you can get away with 1 gig, but some high res texture mods in games like skyrim can push you over that 1 gig threshold. As for 500w psu i have an older setup that my kids use with a 4870 running on an antec vp450 without a hitch. As long as you have a decent psu I...
I know very little about routers and networking jargon so bear with me. I am using a linksys wireless g router that I have had for years. I just recently installed the netflix app on my daughters wii and it seems as though the router is struggling to get the signal into her room on the second...
I have an xfx single fan 6870 and until I upgraded my case to the antec nine hundred two it was a very hot card. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have good airflow, even then I would stay away from xfx. It is a capable gpu though and a sizeable upgrade from that 4670. I went from a 4870 and it...
Before GTX they used Ti and Ultra, then they brought the Ti back for 560 and 550 cards, never understood that either. The more confusing the better for NV and Amd, makes it that much easier for the uninformed to be fooled.
Thanks for all the replies, RS thanks for the really detailed posts big thumbs up! I was having trouble keeping my XFX 6870 at reasonable temps, it was flying into the 80's during Serious Sam 3 and Tribes ascend. I assumed the open design on the card was to blame and was considering a blower...
