Motherboard Ram Slot holder thing

I put some damaged ram in there without knowing, so now the slots are a lil damaged (fried) as well. can that part be replaced on the MB , the rest of the MB is fine just the ram slot holder thingy is messed up.

6800 or 6600gt

i am thinking of getting this one http://www.newegg.com/app/view...=14-122-193&DEPA=0 I like the fact that it has the big copper heat sink and its less than 300 dollars which is about what I wanted to pay. Anyone recommend any other brand name? It's strange that this is about the same...

Damaged Ram

can i replace the sockets in the motherboard that the ram fits in ? and can i fix the gold ram pins. and can i set teh bios to not use the first ram slot caues that one is damaged so i cant boot up the pc.

ok well you misred my first post lol i am talking about the 6600gt (sixty six) or the 6800 (normal) the 6600gt isl ike 220 -ish and the 6800-plain is like 275-ish...

from the 6600gt -> 6800 is only like a 50 dollar differece. Should I spend 50 doll hairs more and get it or not? I heard something like you can buy a 2nd 6600gt later and run them both dual, but isnt that pci-e only? and whats wrong with getting a pci-e type vid card, everyone is saying to...

3/4 done with my first computer

I got a amd mobile athlon 2400, but im only running at 2ghz. I need to read some guides on overclocking... I have 512 pc 3200 ram I am planning to get 512 more within a month. I still have a Geforce 2 mx 440 (lol), but guess what I can run doom3 with it and I get 25 fps on doom3...
