The check is tied to the CPU; you have to download a tool that confirms the system has the cpu purchased. If that fails, you don't get the activation code. I assume they're doing this to try and prevent people from selling the game.

If Rocket Lake can ease the demand for AMD CPU's, I'm all for it. With AMD's supply constraints while in the lead CPU position, the pricing ends up just as painful as when Intel was in the driver's seat.
