office 365 includes 5 licenses as well. you can use the apps offline, it's a simple install. it also includes an exchange mailbox.
And i'm not sure what the $50 is for, we pay $12.5 a user a month, less than what we previously paid just for exchange.

I wouldn't worry until we get some/more details. I'm fairly sure massive/significant layoffs would need to be announced and filed with the sec. Right now all we got is some rumored leak from a local newspaper that's low on details.
He's right though. Apple spends just 3% of revenue on r&d, compared to 10-15% for microsoft, oracle or google and 20% for intel. he's wrong though about this being a new development, apple used to spend only 2% just a few years back.

why would they want to enter a shitty market? just look at nvidia's quarterly numbers: 1b revenue and a paltry 200m in gross income. big deal.

this deal was announced back in february and obviously had been negotiated well before that. So anyone claiming that this Intel reacting to Apple's A7 or anything else recent is simply wrong...
