Question *STABLE* NVMe - USB Adapter?

Sorry, I can actually confirm that Realtek RTL9210B chipset still disconnects randomly although rarely under Linux and no variations in its firmware or in the cable quality have solved it for me. As suggested above, I've ordered a higher class ASM2364 enclosure seeing its price drop on AE. Will...

Question *STABLE* NVMe - USB Adapter?

I've ordered one of those. Will report here when it arrives. The occasional disconnection of my current rtl 9210b enclosure, although rare, means I can't reliably use it. So, I'll test and see how this ASM2364 (of a higher speed class which is overkill but anyway) chipset will perform in comparison.

Question *STABLE* NVMe - USB Adapter?

Switching to realtek_rtl9210B_1.31.17b and setting DISK_IPS_THRES = 0 solved stability issues for me. However, since then the cable got damaged I guess, and the speed dropped from 10000 to 480Mbps (USB 2.0!). So I had to switch to a different cable. Seems robust now.

Question *STABLE* NVMe - USB Adapter?

How do you actually change those settings though? Following your example I 've just downgraded from realtek_rtl9210_1.32.49(station-drivers.com) to realtek_rtl9210B_1.31.17b(station-drivers.com) . But there is no option to customize settings? For me, 1.32 would hang my Linux machine while...

Question *STABLE* NVMe - USB Adapter?

Actually, it's Linux that gives me that information with the correct command: smartctl -x -d sntrealtek /dev/sda. (While Windows 11 doesn't get past the controller, so am still looking for monitoring software for Windows that can read through RTL9210B)

Question *STABLE* NVMe - USB Adapter?

Thanks, I did: smartctl /dev/sda -d scsi -x guessing the device type is scsi? and it doesn't report much, for example: SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability. SMART support is: Enabled Temperature Warning: Disabled or Not Supported === START OF READ SMART DATA...

Question *STABLE* NVMe - USB Adapter?

My new Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB M.2 PCIe 3.0 NVMe (rated 3,500MB/s, new Elpis-based, upto 90°) in a Realtek RTL9210B enclosure mostly works okay with the top read speed 834 MB/sec. I guess that's the best speed one gets from a USB 3.1 (10Gbs), right? But my main questions are these: how do you...
