Flickr is a good choice if you don't want to install any apps. There are some nice advantages that you can have with a free account, such as: storage up to 1 TB, the quality of the files will be kept, unlimited monthly bandwidth.

Replacement for AVG Free?

You can use NOD32, I'm using it for 5 years and I had no problems with it. It's easy on system resources memory and it has some nice features like Gamer Mode, Device Control, Advanced Memory Scanner etc. You can also use it for your mobile device or tablet, by using the same license

Indeed, it was a mistake. I wanted to state the fact that Office is used by many many companies, and although Office is present on OS X, the majority of companies use Windows as their OS.

I don't see how Windows is going to go away anywhere soon, as long as Office remains only on Windows (and Office isn't going anywhere for sure), Windows is going to stick around for many years.

You can install some add-ons for the browser: for example, in Chrome you can install Wappalyzer or BuiltWith. These add-ons will show you details in no time, just clicking on the add-on's icon.

I saw a Mac G5 for $45, should I have bought it?

It's a bargain, just for the case, it does look good. Otherwise I can't find any use for it, it's not x86, it's very hot and a huge power hog.

Can anyone explain file extensions to me? Do they actually affect the file itself?

The extension only relates to the programs that the OS uses in order to open a certain file. Nothing changes when changing the extension, only the default program that opens it. For example, a PNG with transparency will remain transparent after changing its extension in JPG, something else or...

It depends upon your needs. If you don't need advanced features, you should be fine with Google Docs. Otherwise, LibreOffice is the second-best after MS Word.

Could someone please design a not horrible OS?

I see your point here, and I myself would want such a "stripped-down" OS. The problem with this is that the majority of people would not want such a software, mainly because people need stuff to work out of the box. Linux would be such OS, only if more software...
