hard drive lost 6 gigs!

another low-level format, and I used freebsd install - it doesn't see the rest of my HD. So frustrating.. I almost considered spinrite, but it costs $89, and I couldn't find it in any "alternative" sources.

ok, what if the missing space doesn't show up in the linux install? That is what i was talking about. I'll try it with freebsd tonight..... ....what about the low-level format? that should have fixed all this!

XP loses icons. THey come back after a restart

Windows has an icon cache. Basically, you have too many icons, and they can't all fit in the cache. THere is a registry setting - something like ShellConCache (I don't remember exactly what it is). You can change the entry in the registry to allow for a larger cache. Sorry I can't remember the...

Thanks! I just got mine. $92 shipped overnight. I've been trying to get one of these for a long time. Cheapest I could have gotten on eBay was about $150. Excellent deal!!! :D
