Performance increase from P4 3.2 --> AMD 3700+ SD

Nice! Yea, thats the chip I am planning to upgrade to. What would you say is the performance increase overall from your old and new system? 30%? 50%? 100%? Thanks.

I would buy new RAM because I would leave the old RAM in the old system, as it would be practically complete, so my sister or someone can use it.

Hmm, i realize that. I was just curious to know what the performance difference would be. I mean, if the difference in multitasking with a 3700+ would be just about 10% slower, but overall performance is 100% faster, then its worth it, to me. It seems to be that the benchmarks show that...

Putting the page file in RAM disk

Regarding this, I have a question. I have 1 GB of RAM. When I open up tons and tons of software, rather than filling the RAM up to near capacity, it starts paging stuff out, and active memory in use hovers around 450 MB. Why does it never reach near capacity (like say 900) before starting...

What is the fascination with Tribes?

THE best defragger?

i would vote for voptXP ( www.vopt.com ) I read about it somewhere (probably here, in some posts from long ago), tried it out, and it seems to work surprisingly well. (at least compared to windows' or sym speed disk).
