i want a small 40-80gb segate ide100 drive for my new boot drive.
i also want a large seagate sata150 for my data drive.
this is kinda neither.... oh well there's still hope for fry-day ;)
have you noticed how there are barely any good deals on seagates, but loads on maxtors/hitachi?
have you noticed that everyone but seagate now has a 1 year warranty?
that's because seagates are about the only drives worth buying these days (wd sata are ok, not ide) and maxtor/hitachi are...
Exactly, Seagate is the brand to get these days, and Maxtor is the brand to not get, with WD somewhere in between.
3/5 of my Maxtors have failed in the last 2 years, only one still had a warranty left.
Not hot.
there's a cicruit city here bay area ca, that's shutting down, but another is opening up about 3 miles down the road. i guess we don't have many bestbuy's around here.
There's this 200Gb Maxtor SATA for $99 no rebates, at Fry's and Outpost:

Personally I prefer Seagate, but I also prefer SATA....
shame it doesn't do sftp, but it does say ftp and smb (network neighborhood)
it should work with any os, not just windows/mac as listed (unless it comes with some weird config software, but is has web config anyway).
don't you love the microcenter 2+1 rebates - and it's always the instant that's the small one!
i mean if you don't get both the rebates, then this thing is seriously overpriced.
Just picked up a 25 pack of 8x DVD+R for $9.99 (they have minus too for the same price) in Sunnyvale, CA.
Nero Infotool says they are Maxell 002 made in Japan, which should burn at 12-16x on Quikee/LiggyDee firmware (Yuden T02 write strategy) or 8x with default firmware for the NEC ND3500A.
