You do realize what Zen stands for don't you? Zen implies balance. Going with a huge core would be the antithesis to what the whole philosophy is about.
Besides large core means lower MT performance. Because of the diminishing returns and the ability to pack as many cores in a given area.

I'm hit or miss on MLID. Some of his stuff I like and other stuff not so much. He does occasionally have pretty good business takes, but other times he can be wildly off. It's entertainment. I don't think he has bad intentions.
I buy both GPU manufacturers. Been buying GPUs since about 2000. So over 20 years.
I've always felt better about buying AMD because, every time I buy an Nvidia GPU I feel like I was scammed. Like when I bought the gtx780 which fell off in performance over night.
Since I also use Linux on all...
Except this time none of what we know about the upcoming consoles would make sense if there weren't some significant improvement in the RDNA arch.
So I am personally excited and hope AMD can displace Nvidia at the top like AMD did with Intel. This would be great for consumers as Nvidia and...
I got just the opposite impression from the presentation. I mean it remains to be seen but if RDNA is truly a graphics optimized ISA and an arch without unnecessary compute features GCN has which don't get leveraged in most games. AMD could very well appease the gamers with it.
While back I saw...
1800x came out just little over 2 years ago at the same price point as 3900x.
3900x offers twice the performance.(nearly 20% IPC boost as well). Also this product will most likely take the overall performance crown and become the fastest mainstream CPU.
Nvidia would be charging you $1200 for...
Security issues will happen, it's always going to be a cat & mouse game, I don't blame Intel for having a security issue (unless they knew about it and were complicit, but I give them a benefit of the doubt). But there is no doubt they were caught sleeping. Years of tiny improvements and...
2200 will be significantly slower than 1030 especially with that RAM. 2400g could come close to 1030 if you OC it and the RAM to 3600Mhz.
But it doesn't matter, it's still a better CPU and iGPU than the g4560 for the money.
It's more expensive and it can't be put into a compact ITX case without a space for GPU.
Something like this for instance: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811321024&ignorebbr=1
It's upgrade path is also worse if you put it in a bigger case.
The $99 2200g has the SMT disabled, so it's just 4 bare cores without additional threads. The $169 part has 8 threads. You would want the faster ram with the 2400g because the iGPU could really use it. With the $99 2200g you can just use the cheap RAM I don't think it would make much of a...
You underestimate the hold Intel has on OEMs with its rebates and other programs. This lets AMD sell its GPUs where it couldn't otherwise sell them. And at the same time given Intel's influence over OEMs it locks Nvidia out of these premium laptops going forward.
It's a win win for AMD. They...
RAM prices are seriously out of whack.. I am going to build a Mini ITX PC for a relative using the 2200g and 2x4Gb RAM as soon as it becomes available. And see how it actually does. It's replacing an old Mac Mini running on a C2D.. so it will be a big upgrade.
