the cobbler, is this just for the Neo4 Plat or should you do this for all motherboards after you flash? I've never heard of this and never do it and never seem to have shut down problems or any other problems that can be traced back to a flash without updating the chipset drivers.
So, is the most stable bios right now for the K8N Neo4 Platinum non-SLI the 1.6 bios? I was going to upgrade from 1.5 to 1.9 for a computer I'm trying to fix for a friend, but then I read about the shutdown issue with the 1.9s in this thread.
I had to reinstall XP SP2 on a computer for a co-worker because his system was hosed by a video card driver update not done correctly. I set all the bios settings, installed XP SP2 and then installed LAN drivers and it won't make the Internet connection. It's connected as a third computer right...
"Regardless of how you get around the EULA, it doesn't make it right (or legal). A Retail OS can be carried to another computer - an OEM can not. If you use an upgrade, by the letter of the EULA if you use an OEM to pass the upgrade check, the upgrade should be used on the same computer as the...
"When you upgrade to a new mainboard or another computer system you are supposed to purchase a new copy of the OS."
No, only purchase another copy if you have problems and then call up M$ and they don't let you activate with the new hardware. Then and only then do you buy a new copy.
Almost forgot. You're wrong. A firewall won't protect you against a malicious website. A firewall won't protect you against an instant message worm. A firewall will not protect you from something in email. And a firewall will not protect you when your friend brings his computer over and...
Kudos to yukichigai and Varun for taking the time to run with ball and explain everything that really shouldn't have needed an explanation. Although, there is one thing I have to agree we really can't do much about right now"
"You buy the license to use the software. It's their software, they...
Whatever Microsoft does next, is their call. Don't we have to do whatever they say? If they say SS and CC numbers, then we must obey the great master. You think what you think and I'll think what I think. Obviously, neither of our minds are changing.
sTaSh, if you can't see my reason for wanting to work around this, then you need to open your eyes and quit being blinded by M$ corporate BS. Let's get real here. What's next, making us enter our social security number and credit card numbers to get access to updates? It's just one more step in...
Here we go again with the "Holier Than Thou" Anandtech attitude. Why is it almost everytime I ask a question here someone says "you don't need to do that" or "why are you doing that?". I'm just asking a simple question about something that I feel stronger about spending time on doing with good...
STaSh, it's the whole principle of the thing. Yes, I could just give in to corporate BS and install WGA, but if there is a way around it I'm taking it.
How about a way to not even install WGA and still be able to DL updates without turning on automatic updates with SP1a? I do have a legal copy of XPSP1a, but I think this WGA crap is total BS.
