Which GF 6600GT

As I said, XFX HSF is unacceptably loud. But that goes with MANY other modern grafic cards. Any other problems w XFX that I should know about? XFX's memory freq is also a notch higher than default. (1000 MHz effective datarate)

Most likely culprit for my loud PC.

Agree w Injury, check you hard drives. HDs tends to produce a screaming high pitched noice thats really annoying. Listen to the sound, if it's high pitched you will probably find you HDs guilty. Besides HDs, my experience is that northbridge- and GPU-fans are the worst screamers. Replace the NB...

Which GF 6600GT

I see many of you have problems with 6600GT XFX... could anyone please explain the problem? (loud HSF yes, but almost EVERY modern grafic card ships with a loud piece of crap mounted on the GPU...)

Stable motherboard for a Athlon 1500XP or so...

What "you don't with the 1/8" jacks..." ? I might got the situation wrong here, but his question is if it is possible to connect a soundcard to an amplifier using several analog 3.5mm mini-jacks? Of course this is possible, as long as you have an amplifier with 5.1 analog input capabilities...

ABIT NF7S quality on the integrated sound... what is your OPINION?

Buy an amplifier that is capable of digital input! (Unlike computer parts which have a lifecycle of max 2 years, you will be able to use a good amplifier for MANY sweet years.)

MSI KT3 Ultra Fan going dead?

Try it! :-D Remove the _fan_ from the small northbridge heatsink and check the temperature of the heatsink regularly for the nextcoming weeks. If the small heatsink gets really hot to the tough I suggest you buy a bigger passive heatsink for your NB (a Zahlmann e.g.). I did the above, and used...

Abit NF7-S AGP Dead?

Check your cooling... I think the siren-beep is a CPU overheat warning. I had a lot of problems with my NF7-S doing the siren thing and then not booting when i uppgraded my CPU recently. A new high-grade HSF and some tinkering solved my problem. BTW... I had to struggle a lot to get the NF7-S...

I have a Sapphire card (as I mentioned earlier...) I can't check the bandwidth of the memory bus right now, because I'm not at home and I will not be for yet another week. If I remember to check it when I come home I will post it here.

In Halo, all decals are totally screwed up. The transparency of the decals does'nt work at all. In UT2003 there are some strange light-related issues with light sources shining through walls. Not a big problem, but it looks funny! I don't care that much since I dont do very much gaming right...

Quietest 120mm fan?

You can use a couple of diodes connected between the fan and +12(or GND) to reduce the voltage across the fan. Just cut one of the wires to the fan and connect a couple of diodes, making sure you align them correct. If you use standard diodes every diode will "steal" something like 0.7 volts...
