Agree also RE: Intel vs Qualcomm modems.
And even more notable about that is that Apple actually *used* Intel modem and while they sucked it still wasn’t a dealbreaker. Here Apple should have even less hesitancy if their modems are indistinguishable or 80-90% as good, at lower cost.
T-Mobile does this as well with “UC”. It’s not mmWave, but man is it fast.
mmWave is pretty much a waste in most cases imho; C1 isn’t missing much without it.
Lmao, and this is CB23 which is handicapping Arm. Remember all the morons that thought LNL would close gaps? Amazing how it keeps looking worse and worse.
I think they boosted the base amount not only because of that but because Apple is not *totally* immune from competition in the Windows sector, it's not like iPhones/Android stuff, people use these things to work (even students). 8GB of RAM was just absurd and long overdue to a 16GB standard...
Well apparently they want to do an all-in-one Wifi/BT/Cellular chip long term but presumably in this case they'll still have a Wifi-BT standalone one for Macs and iPads unless the cost is just so low that it makes more sense to standardize at that point, but my suspicion is the RFE elements...
lmao, the MBA is just on a different schedule, they're not that consistent these days. Probably the iPad got the earliest batch of M4 chips for a reason volume wise. This is one of Maynard's wild dreams RE: C1.
Will they eventually add modems to Macs? Of course, or at least probably. If they...
I mean, I think that’s already false demonstrably. Lunar Lake surfaces are only “for business” for instance. PRISM will soon emulate AVX2. They’re contracting AMD for an Arm chip. Nvidia is going to enter.
The gain is expanded competition and namely competition from firms that either have...
These two are not unrelated. By cordoning Intel Surface systems for “business” & coercing consumers into purchasing Arm-based Surface devices as their mainstream offering across the stack, they build developer support: it’s a valuable signal. The same thing is going to be true when they launch...

Doing Lunar at > $1499 starting
And just for “business”
Remind me how MS isn’t committed to Arm and Snapdragon laptops would be too expensive, Qualcomm would go crazy with RAM...
This is stupid. The 8 Elite is a phone product and also has an integrated modem you don’t need for PC’s. It would be a great budget or mainstream PC chip because it has a better architecture for ST, efficiency and the GPU etc except it’s not built for that, it’s just that the architecture is a...
Nonzero bubble quite possible on the hardware end for Nvidia alone if not quite likely — and there may be a 5 steps forward but 1-2 steps back thing at some point, much like dotcom era. It’s not even close to crypto which is scams and speculation.
The statements by those here among other...
