How to test quality/reliability of internet connection?

Run a line quality test from DSL Reports. It will help you spot packet loss or other problems. http://www.dslreports.com/linequality

No other reason than I already have one of the drives. It probably would be a better IDEA to go 4xSATA and sell off the IDE or keep it for backup images.
