On Intel's website it says that the 943GML Express chipset is the 945 optimized for the Celeron M. BTW yes, it is one 512Mb stick in there.

I got this same laptop from C-USA when they were on sale for $350 a few months ago. You definitely need to put another 512Mb in it if you want to run Vista and keep your sanity. Another good tip: Acer partitions 10Gb of the 80Gb HDD for a factory restore image instead of giving you a Vista...

What do you run as a daily overclock speed?

3.85 GHz typically. Idles around 50c, which isn't bad for a PentiumD. Cpu fan is set at around 7volts when cpu is idling. Stock voltage and EIST active. Haha small e-peen magnification in the sig!

CPU Upgrade Project gone south...

Yea, good point. Although I'd expect the motherboard would probably just operate the processor at the lower FSB automatically. Anyway, I'm going to be going from a single Merom core to a dual Yonah core. Yonah is less advanced but there will be two of em, which I figure will be much more...

Thanks Hans. You think the 667 FSB will work too eh? I had figured I was limited to 533 since that is what is in there currently. Haha you're spot on that this is one of the $300 laptops from awhile back.

Overclocking e4400 and temps

I agree with Serpent, C1E and EIST tend to monkey around with overclock voltage. I turned them off in my bios to keep things simple while overclocking. The other reason you're core voltage might be lower than the value you'd like because of the vdroop, in which case there's not much to be done...

CPU-Z reporting error in laptop?

Thanks for the advice Justa, I really don't think that there is any problem with my CPU though, it looks like a glitch in CPU-z. I check out that Ap that you linked to, it was pretty cool. When I turned on the CPU SPEED field it had a value that was jumping around between like 50MHz and 1600...

I'm fairly certain that my Celeron M doesn't any speedstep, and my makeshift test seems to have confirmed that (see OP).

abit IP35 Pro + Thermalright 120Ultra Extreme

My Ultra-90 fits like a glove (not surprise). Really happy with the IP35 and how well the U-90 cools. I've got a PD915 at 3.85GHz (1.323V) and during 3DMark06 the hottest it got was around 70C (during CPU test). Idles @ 50.
