2nd core in manchester 3800+ X2 not working

It's not a common thing to have happen but it seems most likely your PSU destroyed one of your two cores. I don't know what other diagnosis one could give based on what you're telling us. You're going to have to RMA it.

Want to sell my Pentium 4 CPU on ebay... how would you go about packing it?

The last time I shipped one I found a container of paperclips from Staples that was stiff plastic, roughly square and the same dimensions as a P4 cpu. I emptied it out, put the CPU in the plastic and packed the extra space with newspaper in order to secure it. I didn't get any complaints from...

7900GTX

If you're getting it on eBay or something make sure it is guaranteed. I had one that I bought cheap about 3 months ago and it artifaced badly whenever AA was turned on or the fan wasn't manually set to full. I resold it on eBay "as is" for a profit and the buyer didn't have any of the same...

Buffalo Firestix question

It probably defaults to a lower speed when you fill all 4 slots... motherboards have a tendency to do that, set it manually to PC-6400 in BIOS and make sure it runs stably. Also, if you're not overclocking, then you wont be able to tell the difference anyway, because your FSB is less than 1600Mhz

stock e6600 cooler

I use the stock cooler on my E4300 and it gets to 2.7ghz where I get motherboard-limited. I don't think my temps are that bad.

WD Raptor Noises, What is Normal?

I would characterize my Raptor seeking noises as more clunky and metallic than other HDs. I think you're fine.

Rogers Throttling the Internet

If you're trying to use BitTorrent, use the encryption feature of Azureus to get around ISP throttling for legal files only, of course :thumbsup:

Dilemma: video card and game

It'd be silly to pay extra or to give up a freebie for an overclocked card, if you're against the idea of overclocking. The factory overclocked cards are the same chips from nVidia as the stock ones, it's just that the OEMs have tested them at higher speeds. IIRC, tests and reviews have shown...

I need a PSU

Look on eBay, I got a 660w Enermax with quad 12v rails that I nabbed for ~~$60... otherwise youre out of luck, if there was a holy grail of PSU you would already know about it.

Just Double Checking this $1400 Build

If I were building, I would go with 4GB of the Supertalent 667, unless you are hell bent on getting to 1600FSB with this build. Even so you may be able to get the ST there or get it close. DDR2 800 offers no performance advantage until you get to 1600mhz FSB and being that 4GB of 667 will only...

Don't sweat the AGP factor too much. You can always eBay the thing when you're done with it, and then you'll just get the market price, and SOMEONE out there will probably still want it.

Dumbest thing you've ever done

I opened a power supply that I thought was dead and started thumbing through it with my hand---WHILE IT WAS PLUGGED IN. Zap. Thankfully it just made my arm feel like jello for a few seconds and didn't kill me. :shocked:

looking for best 24 inch wide screen monitor

Love my Samsung 244T. It is huge, super bright, and has component and s-video inputs as well. I had the impression that it was a slightly better unit than the Dell or had higher quality standards but that could be rubbish for all I know. It is an incredible monitor though, and I've never seen...
