You would want either a GT-S with the cloth seats, or any trim with the leather seats (which are black). The GT's will mostly have some sort of color seats if you do go with one that has cloth seats.

How long before you "trust" that a HD won't fail?

Had a Seagate 500gb 7200.10 drive die on me after 7 months a few years ago... was NOT pleased when it happened. Don't think I could fully trust a HDD, so anything of importance go on my RAID 1's and are backed up to usb flash drives/externals.

Need to vent against Sony

I would agree with this, Sony are absolute fuckers, specifically the Canadian computer division. Ordered a fully spec'ed out vaio Z just this past september, and it shipped with a loose screen bezel, a power button that would make cracking sounds everytime I push it to turn the laptop on...
