Sorry for late reply....think it was approaching 3 years and the computer started booting weird...sometimes yes, sometimes no and like you the bios settings were all there. m edit: That's what lit the light bulb...the clock would not hold time

had a p4 not boot...it was the cmos battery. replaced same....all was good just a thought m

My computer won't turn on after vacuuming the inside

Late to the topic and certainly no expert.... I "used" to vacumn computer case but caused a TU condition which I attributed to the static electricity flying around with dust/hose etc...One time was enough for me. Had a Asus MB (p4) that wouldn't post....changed cmos battery and all was...

Sons and Grandsons need something besides a P3 733 when they come over... Will use an old Lian Li PC68 case and 400 watt Antec PS, if you think that is sufficient. IDE Plextor DVD-CD writer and any other parts in the bin. After reading here, thought I would buy the following...

New build for bride of 44 yrs...

She presently is using a home built P3 450 running XP pro with new sound card and dvd/cdrom and speakers/lcd monitor. Main programs are Paperport/Pagekeeper and MS office. Paperport has over 1000 images and files and takes a long time to load program. When she scans a new document it takes...

Win XP Pro / IE 6 / What the heck?

Just a novice here on forum and a month into Winxp pro on a p4 1.7 asus p4te system found a lot of good tweaks here: http://www.tweakxp.com/tweakxp/ There are so manyh areas that can be adjusted, but I found the IE6 tweak re: temporary Internet files to make a difference on this machine...

upgrading to Asus P4T-E and 1.7ghz cpu... presently running P2 350 with a 300watt PC Power and cooling power supply. PowerandCooling make a connector to jump from standard 12v lead to the 4 pin connection on MB, and have that ordered. What about the 6 pin "Auxpwr" connector on the MB? Is it...

Auto Disconnect....how do i turn it on?

When you shutdown IE or Outlook Express, you originally get an "auto disconnect" box which allows you to choose to use it or not. How can I turn that "box" back on. Must be a registery setting but so far, haven't found it. Thank you for the time tcas Win98se on P2350

How do I move...

How can I move the location of the program folder that windows installs i.e., c:\program files to d:\program files. Windows only recognizes one location, right? fresh install of windows and want to keep operating system in partition by itself and apps and data in different partions. Believe...
