Opinions on my Upcoming PC

hey all you Anandtech and Hardware Gurus, i'm thinking about upgrading my system, and gonna keep it true with AMD, been with them for over 6 years, no problems yet. SO for all those AMD peps out there, i'm looking for recommendations on CPU, Motherboard, and RAM. i don't have the BEST budget in...

best Dual Format DVD Burner?

just wondering what some opinions are on the Dual Format DVD Burners that are out today? which one do you guys think are the best as far as "reviews" and "experience" wise. i've been looking into getting one, and the prices of them are dropping dramatically, so money isn't an issue. just wanna...

too many fans... too much noise... going watercooling, suggestions?

lol, as much as oil would seem to be a "good" "cooling/spontanious combustion" solution, i rather stick with water cooling. =) interesting concept tho :D

AXDA2100BOX: is this a Tbred 'A' or 'B' ?

can you tell us the stepping code? ex: AIUHA, AIUHB, JIUHA, JIUHB, the numbers afterwards, and also the part that looks like DU, DL, DK then we can tell you what you have. =P

- first thing first, money is not too much of a problem, but the cheaper the better :) budget of around... 300 - please recommend sites as to where i can buy the items this is my idea, i'm going to need the following: -CPU waterblock for AthlonXP and possibly Opteron/Athlon64s -Chipset/MB...

AMD & nf7-s advice

the only other place that i know of that guarantee's a v2.0 is gameve.com check there, locally located in california monterey park. =)

in the new revision of the NF7-S v2.0, theres no more BIOs Corruptions as ABIT fixed this problem with it's own built in bios protection. if you are going to get the NF7-S, make sure it's the v2.0 as it will ensure a stable setup. just my 2 cents :)

KT 400's for overclocking (and KT600 Q)

i first has a KT400 chipset, but was only to get a max of 185FSB. i'd say you can get a good nForce2 board for the same price. so i'd say get a nforce2 mb, it's a better investment in the long run.

T-BRED B 1700 DUT3C JIUHB

i'm slowly OCing my DUT3C 312 1700+ right now... currently at 10.5x 185FSB at 1.6v i'm upping my FSB 5mhz everyday on default voltage after running Prime for atleast 24 hours so far so good. going to 190 tomorrow. i'll see how high of my FSB i can go at default =)

How long can thermal compounds last till it needs to be re-applied?

hmm, the way artic silver is made, it doesn't "need" to be reapplied... tho it would be safer for you to go AS3 or even Ceramique as those compounds are engineered to apply once, and never worry about it again. some compounds become cakey after a while, but AS2, AS3, and Ceramique stay viscous.

anyone have geil pc3500 ultra platinum?

i have ultra platinums, and i have had no problems at DDR433 with the recommended timings. i've hit DDR460, but from then on, i think my CPU doens't like that FSB. so i'm leaving it at DDR433.
