I would like to know this as well. How long until it’s actually available, or do I actually have to buy a DDR4 motherboard and RAM?
It’s annoying seeing that DELL and probably others are selling computers with DDR5.
Yeah, I basically have a new computer ready to go except the RAM. Ironically, I think there was DDR5 available when I first started looking, but I didn't buy any because I was waiting to see the availability of the Alderlake CPUs. I didn't realize there would be such a shortage of DDR5 RAM.
Apparently, it is due to a supply shortage of the chip that controls power management.
DDR5 memory is in shortage due to the PMIC being in short supply (techgenyz.com)
DDR5 already an actor in the global chip shortage play, though not for the role you'd expect - Neowin
Anyone know when DDR5 will actually be available to buy. It almost seems like nobody is manufacturing DDR5. I'm assuming RAM manufacturers can't use the same equipment to make DDR5 as DDR4, otherwise I'm not sure why they wouldn't be increasing DDR5 production with the premium they would get.
Well, I bought it anyways, and it actually plays quite well on my system. Forgive all my gloom and fretting. FPS is around 50 according to their game performance tool. It actually 'feels' more consistently smooth than I remember Assassin's Creed Unity. I'm only about 2 hours into to playing so...
I don't have evidence to back it up, but it seems like this will lose them more in sales than they would lose to people pirating the game. Not only that, but in the future people will be less likely to buy their game due to Ubisoft not being reliable. I waited to preorder because Ubisoft puts...
I see it as people struggling to pay bills, and trump gave them something to blame, and belief that he can change that. Heh, time will tell how that works out lol.
Didn't HoloLens use an atom CPU? Interesting to see if the first released version has core, or Arm processor. Did they just cancel Broxton, but not the next version of Atom?
I think it also has to do with PCs not inspiring a strong emotional need/want to upgrade. My parents just spent $3000 on a new tv to replace the 10 year old one, but are still seemingly happy with their core 2 duo pc. They definitely could afford it, but they see it as still functional, so...
Admittedly, I am a lay person, but won't the Cannonlake CPU core size shrink by half. Is it so far fetched they might make a 6-core that would still take up less space than a 4-core on 14nm. The igpu mainly needs to be big enough to be competent at driving 4k monitors. If Intel went crazy...
I think Continuum is actually rather forward looking. I don't see it as very amazing now, but I think that type of usage will grow over the next 5 years or more. Unless I'm missing something computers will continue to become smaller, and use less power.
No way DX12 will come to windows 7 or 8.
Depending on how many gamers upgrade their OS to Win10 within the next year, there may already be games that require DX12 and won't run on win7 by holiday 2016. I know EA's DICE had expressed interest in this, but obviously only if the very large...
