Fortunately, no. The Asus A8N-E accepts unbuffered-ECC. Actually, I was surprised that I could only find one non-server, non-Asus motherboard that implemented ECC, and it was much more expensive.

Asus A8N-E info please.

As the Crucial database doesn't contain the A8N-E motherboard, how did you choose appropriate modules? Did you order 1GB ECC modules that matched the A8N-SLI board that Crucial does list?

Unfortunately, there are no 1GB ECC modules liated by ASUS. I need ECC for an upcoming project involving finite element analysis that will run continuously for 2-3 months. Without ECC, the bit-error-rate would be inadaquate. I would like to be in a position to build something better, but my...

A8N-E or A8V-E Deluxe

I'd be curious to know how well the Zalman passive cooler works on the A8N-E, and also the clearance that you have between it and your CPU cooler (and which one you're using), especially if it's a Zalman CPU cooler (7000 or 7700).

Two points of curiosity regarding the A8N-E: 1. Why the Zalman CNPS7000B-Cu instead of the CNPS7700B-Cu? 2. Any recommendations for 1GB or 512MB ECC modules? (The only source that I can find is Crucial.)
