New: Schweppes Dark Ginger Ale

They carry it at my local Costco, usually during the winter months, it seems (I first noticed it last winter). I bought a case last time I was there. It's definitely not my favorite ginger beer, but it's better than many I've had.

Quick heads-up on a great SSD - Toshiba 128GB

So, is there a definitive conclusion on what controller these use? I've been considering a couple of the HDTS212XZSA 128GB drives. However, as a result of previous experiences, I intend to avoid a Sandforce based product.

Panasonic ST60

Glad to read that you're happy with the set. How long have you had it? The ST60s have only been out a week or two - unless you're talking about the ST50 (2012 model). Honestly, I wouldn't worry about the input lag. Even to gamers, it's unlikely to be much of a problem, if at all. That said...

It's still early, but one of the early reviews claimed this and said it was verified as they used two different methods to test. The numbers they reported were still relatively low (under 100ms, which is accepted as a threshold of being noticable to anyone) but marginally higher than last...

Panasonic ST60

The only problem I've heard from the early reports of the ST60 is input lag may be higher (20-25%) than last year's equivalent models. It shouldn't be an issue to most people, but if you intend to use the ST60 for anything more than casual gaming, you may want to take it into consideration...

Perhaps, but many geoengineering solutions have their own inherent set of risks, some as serious as the problem they're trying to fix. This is if they're even feasible at all to begin with. Probably best left as a last resort.

Obviously the most striking thing about that image is how much sand was pushed into neighborhoods. It's several inches deep or more in many places.

Gas prices-Sandy

Firstly, we're talking about gas prices, not actual oil prices. As such, the real question is the impact of the storm on refineries. The actual impact is expected to be neglible - add to that reduced demand for gas because people are not travelling for days at a time, and the fact that prices...

Not quite. Prices do sometimes go up after events. Hurricane Issac, for example. The difference is that this event has not caused a significant delay to refining activities.

True. It's essentially a gated community in the Rockaways. It's still massive destruction. 50 homes destroyed; was a six-alarm fire with nearly 200 responders and crews had trouble with it because most hydrants were under water, due to the storm.

Gas prices-Sandy

Uh, prices for oil are not going up. If there is any price shock, it'll be due to either supply issues (at refineries, which by the way, is NOT expected) or distribution issues, until ships can enter port and trucks reach all areas. Or it'll be due to effects of volatility in the commodities...
