Why don't new motherboards have 2nd IDE controller?

RE: everyone dissin' on the floppy drives how do you plan on flashing your bios? if you use usb, you are braver than I (dare I say most? yes, I think I will) unless you have a motherboard equipped with something similar to asus' ez flash then your mobo will ALWAYS have floppy ide

Abit IP35-E Review (500MHz FSB board)...$90 @ NewEgg + $6.61 ship

An update on this problem...I got busy with work, didn't have time to fix it until yesterday. Turns out just needed to update my driver for my PATA controller card. Proggies must have been freezing up when they couldn't get temps from my HDDs through the controller, because I have all 3 HDDs...

need a tighter range on budget. for the low end xfx 8600gt xxx 256mb gddr3 for $104 shipped after MIR ^^^note that this is not gddr2 version mid range hd3850 256mb gddr3 for $160 before shipping high end / ultra high end all are overpriced, so pick your poison It's my opinion that ram...

What's the best $100 video card these days?

I got my 8600gt xxx for exactly $100 shipped after MIR although, there are still several gddr2 (==crap) versions still floating around. look for the gddr3 (unbeatable @ $100) ones. $104 shipped after MIR

Running XP, SP2 on disc. I did try un/reinstall of speedfan. I don't use hwmonitor for anything either, I just noticed speenfan locking up system, but other monitoring proggys were not. cpuz, coretemp, everest, gpuz, atitool. But, none of those kept up with fan speeds, and I knew hwmonitor did...

flashed to v14 BIOS. now proggys that read fan speed (speedfan, HWMonitor) are totally locking up system :confused: , can't even ctl-alt-del not that I can't function without them, just weird, haven't heard of this problem yet
