I don't see why this is true? I have an SSD in my MBP and I have Spotlight Indexing on and I'm not seeing any battery life issues since the upgrade. Why would moving to an SSD lead to changes in indexing behavior?
Also, the SSD benefits work the same as the Nehalem benefits. Because Nehalem...
I had my X48 die on me the other day and having checked the bench this seems awfully tempting. Is it really going to feel as fast as my quad or do the numbers just make it look that way?

This is the same stuff SanDisk sells (though their crop goes mostly to the embedded market). I've seen some of the 34 nm stuff go into some products (the MacBook Air and Kingston V series, notably) but I hadn't heard whether any of their 24 nm NAND was actually in any products.

So, I am really interested in biting on one of these Roku boxes, but the one hang up is local network streaming. Roku does all the things that all of the other streamers don't (namely Amazon [I am such an Amazon whore]) but without accessing media files off my NAS I can't get rid of the HTPC...

Went today and discovered that the Sony Reader was down to $75. Asked the guy in tech and he said that additional clearance prices are done on Monday so check again then and you might have some winners.
It occurs to me that there is no Dislays forum so this'll have to do.
In todays monitor review, Klug mentions that "unless youre using an HDMI to DVI cable, you should be running the LCD at native resolution." Why is that? I'm currently running my HT set-up as follows: HTPC (DVI) to Receiver...
Back for more. After running steady for a while I have a new toy to add. A Swiftech Apogee GTZ has joined the fun. Will bleed, leak test and rebuild tomorrow. What sort of improvement should I see over my MC-TDX? I see how it outperforms the Fusion V2 thanks to Skinnee, and how it falls behind...
Ok, I'm a big cheapskate. I built my current a/v setup on a budget of less than $500 (old crt hdtv, htib speakers with scratch and dent str dg510, htpc with spare parts mostly) and I'm looking to upgrade. Trouble is I can't find reviews on stuff I can afford. Sites like soundandvision only...
