i run 2 rigs ; a soltek nforce2 /barton 2800 & asus p4pe/3.06 . i use the amd just for gameing and some web surfing but in anything else it doesnt even come close to the 3.06. i notice a huge differance.

i just built my first AMD rig and i used the soltek sl-frn2-rl, ..for $80 comes with ddr 400 & sata raid.. ive always used intel . for less than $500 i put together a great system.my 3.06 system cost me $1200 to build.

..the nforce2 boards are definetly the way to go, dual channel, 400fsb. fastest amd platform right now. soltek makes a great one for $80 sl-frn2-rl

im running twin 60gb 8mb wd drives in a raid 0 now,(p4pe ,3.06) but if i were to do it again i would get the maxtor160mb diamond9 sata drive, ive seen the benchies..man it's fast. blows my raid 0 away!! but thats jmo.

donfm, you'll want to look into the p4p800 pe (with ich5R),by asus. it is giveing the 875 a run for its money, but dont take my word, read some of the reviews and thats where you'll end up.(asusboards.com)i bought one.

i had the same problem with my p4pe. i had installed an extra stand-off behind the board ,shorting it out. im lucky i didnt kill it. it wasn't my first build either. just a thought.

i have the same board, great choice. reguardless of which memory you get you should run two sticks to utilize the dual channel. im useing 2 -256mb sticks of corsair.
