Why do people crack software and put it on the internet for free?

It's an interesting challenge. I remember slowly learning how to do this just out of curiosity to learn something new. Those groups/individuals have tutorials out there on their own sample software to try your own hand at it legally.

Emulating DOS on XP

What makes the program not work in DOS? I ask because we have a survey program in the office that uses a Dongle. The program sucks and needs the stupid dongle in dos. This caused problems in Win2k and we needed a driver for the dongle so it would work. But that slowed the program down. Then...

Anyone done a clean install of Windows XP w/ SP2 slipstreamed?

I did a clean sp2 slipstreamed into my Winxp pro no sp cd using nlite or ntlite, whatever its called. The image is a lot smaller than when i tried sp2 on a winxp pro with sp1 cd. I just did an install, which worked perfect. Also that office 2003 slipstream is great, I remember doing that one...

*Urgent* XP Pro looses access to Windows2K3 after being idle for 8+ hours...

I have this exact same problem!! Xp Pro Clients and Win2k Server is the domain. Our computers are all using the Asus P4C800-E Deluxe MB Gigabit connections which go to linksys 8port Gigabit switches which then connect to the router/server/dsl modem. Most of the guys leave around 5-6pm and if...

How good is a slipstreamed XP-SP2 compared to a normal installation?

I think nlite was really easy to slipstream the sp2 into. xp pro. Then you can go to msfn.org to figure out how to add other useful programs.
