Yeah one of our PC's at work did the same thing.... Kept resetting the FSB everytime it was powered down for more than a few minutes.
Turns out the battery wasn't holding a charge. Pop another one in if you have it. Good luck.
What OS are you running? You maybe experiencing some problems with IRQ's but without more info it's hard to say. Since it's a connexant modem try any of the following init strings (+MS=V90, or +MS=K56,0 or +MS=V34) the V34 is only a last resort since that will put you back on the old V34...
I bet it was cause of kazaa or kazaa lite... Even though they claim that lite has no spyware, it is the only thing I installed on a new install and I encountered the same thing.
The people that invented popups, popunders, and all the rest of that crap deserve a good kick to the beanbag.

I hate the new layout. It is nowhere near as intuitive as the previous one. Yes, it does look cleaner, but it is also a little more difficult to find what you are looking for. Just my opinion. Flame away.

I never subscribe to any lists or give that address out to anyone. I normally use hotmail for anything that might cause me...
Lucent modems are fine modems if you are using a decent pc. My advice, do not put these things in an older pc.... You can face all sorts of issues including random disconnects. Flashing hte firmware helps in most instances, but I have seen instances where nothing short of limithing the piece...
Not trying to flame you, but Outpost is selling the Western Digital 7200 RPM for $150. The shipping is free and the drive is a lot faster. I can't see why anyone would buy this drive for $11 less and take that much of a performance hit. Thanks for posting though.
Sorry, about the last post, but it won't let me edit it. Anyway, I have used the XP plus pack and it is a waste of cash. Luckily, a friend of mine bought it so it wasn't my cash that was wasted..... You are better off downloading screensavers and games. There is a lot of freeware out there...
