Maximus III Forumula won't post / boot and shows Red CPU LED

I know what you mean, it's such a mystery to me... The fan is plugged in and running; in fact all the fans and lights start up. I've checked all the mobo power connectors. You do have to push down on the spring arms of the cooler mount, but I wouldn't say any harder than heatsink.
