How the heck does one unpack the F5 bios file? I downloaded something called "bios_k8nsp_f5.exe". I couldn't unpack it with Winrar. I tried running it in windows and a dos prompt skitters around in a command dos box. What happened to the good old days when you just unpacked a .bin file...

ruuvari, look carefully at the plastic posts on the retension frame. At the top, they have plastic pins that slide out. I didn't know, and initially tried to pry/chisel the retension fram off, until one of the plastic pins surprised me by loosening. Piece of cake after that. My alpha...

I believe I had a similar problem with burning cdrs. Updating ASPI seemed to fix the problem. Download at Adaptec.

tOiRb, thanks for your suggestion. I bought the Gigabyte dual bios because the extra bios seemed like a good backup security option (search these forums and you might find my thread from a few years ago about the Asus mobo that got the bad flash). I felt implicitly that I would be acting too...

Poppyq, you can lever out the white plastic pins that hold the built-on plastic retension frame to this mobo. When the plastic frame is removed, you'll have the two parallel holes needed to mount a metal frame.

Sandra Benchmark

The last major upgrade of the Sandra program was about six months ago. If I can recall correctly, the last AMD Athlon it reports for is the 1800+ and -- thus -- it only recognises pc2100 mems because that's all that existed at the time the proggy was released. That said, your performance...

Okey, if the cpu is 'unlocked' then that means you should be able to set the fsb frequency (100mhz, 133mhz, or more) as well as the clock multiplier (3x, 4x, 4.5x, whatever) -- this is all typically done either by setting dip switches on your motherboard or by easily setting the values in bios...
