The age old question... Since there are no people (or animals or microphones) to percieve the sound, it wouldn't be considered a sound. It is simply large vibrations in the air. Our brains interpret that information and turn it into sound, but without interpretation, it's just vibrations...

Buy Athlon XP or get a T-Bird so I can change multiplier? Any place to buy unlocked XP?

Go with the non-OCd Athlon XP. You'll get much better performance for just a few more bucks, and you can still OC the FSB a few MHz, my 1700+ is at 140 now, and I haven't had any stability or heat or damage problems. I know it'll eventually wear the parts out, but they'll be obsolete before they...

What are the uses of a computer?

Yeah, I would definately say Internet is the way computers are used mainly today. But think about all the other stuff they do -- like weather reports, number crunching (seti@home, finding the ten trillionth digit of pi, whatever), 3D modeling (CAD), art, Graphic design, etc. etc.
