Yeesh, X1900XT may be fast, but it has issues.

have to do a clean installw hen you buy a new computer :P i havent had any problems with my 1900XT so far, everything installed fast and works well. i've only used .net 1.1, that came with the chipset drivers. CD drivers also working nicely. compared to my old TI4600, the CCC feels a bit...

Will X2 stock cooler fit AMD64 3000+

its the same socket so it uses the same holding brackets... i dont see why not.

Problems Overclocking Athlon 64 X2 4200

overclocking does not guarrantee everything. the only guarrantee you have is that it'll run at 2.2ghz. so you might have gotten a dud. have you installed the AMD X2 driver, MS hotfix and reghack? in some OCs they do make a difference. check if your CPU just fails 1 prime while the other...

My new AMD 64 3500+ stock fan is noisy!

fans can start making a little noise the longer their in use. maybe your stock cooler needs replacing... i'd reccomend the thermalright XP-90 then, for now wand in the future. you can mount whatever fan you want on it, if noise isnt a problem going with panaflo fans for optimal performance...

With the new pricing structure, is the Opty 165 worth $30 over the X2?

unless the opty 165 reaches the price of a X2 4200+, the opty 165 will always be worth it over the X2 3800+.

anyone ever RMA'd with ATI?

i've heard anything ranging a 5 days to 3 weeks. but whats the problem? you sure its the chip, not drivers or anything like that? what card did you get?

in the end it all depends on what you want.i chose 2 150gb raptors in raid 0 because ill be recording ingame movies, and when im not, i dont want any framedrops. at all. but for regular gaming a 250gb HDD should do fine. at the moment the 250's are in the sweetspot for price/gb's if you ask me...

Are single card solutions improving?

at the moment, GPU's are improving much faster then CPU's and even much faster then the software. on my TNT2 pro (600 mhz p3+ 512 ram) i dared to run Q3 1024x768 with high settings, fps where around 25-40, dips into 20 sometimes. no AA (did that even exist back then?) on my G4 Ti4600 (P4...

jup, wait, unless you have no choice (like run on a geforce 4 card while your a heavy gamer.) but dont wait anything more then 3 months... well lets put it this way, re-evaluate your waiting period after Cebit, which is from the 9th till the 15th of march. after that the G71 should be out...

Which heatsink?

yup if you have that new stock opteron cooler with heatpipes, you dont want any other HSF. thats right up there with good HSF like zalmans and thermatakes. if you dont, a si120's slightly better then the XP-90, but not by much. depends on what you want to spend really.

Smallest DVD Drive?

do countries with legalized prostitution have less sex crimes?

prostitution has little to do with sex crimes as far as i know. the only crime that decreases with legal prostitution is that of illigal prostitution :P
