Good general purpose lens for a Canon Rebel XTI

Are you sure you won`t conisder one of the excelent 24-75mm f2.8 from Tamron? No IS but fast, cheap and well regarded. Canon 28-135 IS might be an option also?

Well, it is quite fair to send a standard lens not a specialle prepaired/ selected one.

Differences in filter polarizers

Filter are always confusing. You need a "slim filter" due to the wide-angle-ness of your lens. Circular as well. Check out Hoya and B&W. I personnally order always from hvstar but do not live in the USA. Perhaps this is what you would like: http://hvstar.net/index.asp?Pa...on=VIEWPROD&ProdID=294

What is your favorite Lens?

My Canon 70-200 F4 L IS, fast AF and almost always a very nice picture when I use it. My 17-85 and 50 1.8 can not hold a candle to it. It is probally in hte range because I also liked my 70-300 Sigma.

Cleaned my keyboard

I think the trick is to clean the keyboard before it gets too dirty. I usually hold my keybord upsidedown and spray some cleaningsolution at it. Let it soak a minute and whipe it off and let it dry (still upside down). That is the quick way for resonable results.

good glass is always better than a good cemra which will be outdated before you know it. So I have voted for the 28-135. But please do indeed consider the XTi with Tamron 17-50 f2.8 or the new and improved canon 18-55IS or some primes.

I`d limit my choises to these three; 1) Canon 70-300 IS (IS can be really helpfull, nice size and range) 2) Sigma 70-300 APO DG ($220, cheap and good optics, be sure the get the high quality APO version) 3) F4L (of perhaps the IS version, both perfect build quality but heavy and, the IS...

Ugggg... I sent my Rebel XT into Canon to get a repair estimate.

DOes the repear come with some kint of warrenty? If not I would buy a new camera. Seeing the problems you are encountering a secondhand weather sealed one would not be a bad idea..

Canon XTi kit lens or not?

Buy the kit lens if you want to try it for a few months. It is cheap so no worries. Do not buy it if you already plan on buying a better lens like the tamron 17-50 or the sigma 17-70. This is probably the best option. If for some reason you later on want the kitlens, it is available new and...

floppy drives

I dumped my floppydrive three years ago. If you use your PC by yourself, no need for it. Internet, USB sticks. However, I have found that other people expect to be able to use a floppydisc on your PC.

my thought exactly; if you take 30gig of photo`s you should be selective on what you keep (and shoot!).

What devices? A normal 1.5V battery starts at 1.5V but that tends to drop quitefast and most things work wel with only 1.2V.
