Thanks Rage187, i will try the safe mode thing. I have actually had both cables connected and tried switching display device in the display properties nvidia applet, but i get a blank screen when I press "Exit" to change input. Hopefully it will work under safe mode, then I will know it is...

Samsung 191t DVI problem

Hi Guys, Just got my 191t and it is SWEET! One thing, i cannot get dvi to work. It will display the post and starting windows xp logo, but then the login screen is just blank with no display and the lights start flashin. Any ideas??? I have tried different monitor drivers, changed to lowest...

Guys, have a quick search on the Giel PC3200 ram reviews - you will see that these come with heatspreaders. Upon further investigation by the reviewers, they removed the heatspreaders to find out that the chips on the pcb where ddr266 rated. Yet, the Giel sticker on the heatspreaders said...

I'm Getting a XP1600,,help pls

You know what sucks? When reading threads like this and realising that the xp that you have (i 'did' have xp1800) is actually AGOIA and that it will run at 166 - but the mobo wont support the chip (well not stably... abit kt7a v1.0 NOT 1.3...doh) and then you blow the damn thing up trying to...

AMD and float

Good info KF. Nice to see someone that actually will explain the topic rather than a one sentance general statement... actually I feel the urge to be one of those... Amd is faster than intel due to the design of the chips and the apps that are not optimized for either athlon or pent4 as there...

AMD 2200+...chirpped core but still work...side effect ?

Wind, i NEEED to see a pic of that! I also buggered my xp1800 - but not chipped - i think i cooked it, but there is no visible damage - just wont boot in my abit kt7a - but the mobo also doesnt support it, did work for a while though..........

processor OC advice

go the amd for sure, easy to unlock and seems to be a bit more easier to maintain at a overclocked state with better cooling.

How to tell the difference from Revision A and B on AMD XP

basically i have looked for info as well and have come up with "you have to look at the cpu string reported in diag proggies" which is kind of hard when you are in the store and looking at the cpus - i think there is a difference in the batch/model numbers actaully on the chip but i would say...

new to overclocking, please help. AMD 1800+

I'd say give it a go with the cas2.5 setting and maybe increase the voltage a LITTLE and see if that can get the ram working ok. After that... i have no idea - havnt got my ddr and mobo yet. Keep posting of how you are going as i am insterested when i get my gear.

I fried something, don't know what though. :(

scorp00, you may have done something wierd to the PS. unplug the cd drives and check again, or swap power cables, sound like the power is sent to drives, then not enough and powered off, then again... blah blah. see how ya go. bitch of a problem though...

you can get a mobo with raid on it, that will allow 8 devices to be connected. since abit introduced raid on their line of mobos, i have gone with raid ever since due to me having: ls120 dvd cdr 2x hdd working all fine on abit kt7a-raid. having raid onboard doesnt mean you HAVE to use it in...

need a OC expert

go the water cooling for sure if you wanna go higher safely... maybe every now and then stick some ice cubes in the tub to cool down the water more. lower ddr and raise the fsb... no point making the exhaust pipe smaller and increasing the intake on the engine...

new to overclocking, please help. AMD 1800+

Excalibur, I have the same problem only i can only get to 145mhz on Abit KT7A-raid mobo. What is the model/stepping of your chip? the 1800s may not run at 166... i am waiting on getting asus a7v8x mobo to really push the chip..... i was playing with heatsink mods and fried the ah heck, so am...
