Actually for Linux guests that is not recommended (although we use it for our Windows guests). According to VMware:

"Note: In all cases use NTP instead of VMware Tools periodic time synchronization. Also, you may need to open the...
We are running SLES 10 SP2 with kernel 2.6.16.60-0.33 in a VMware environment. We are having some issues with NTP, and VMware recommends using kernel 2.6.22 as it supports "tickelss timekeeping"
We can not update our kernel at this time (Quality Control etc) and I was wondering if anyone...
Ah ok so this is something I have to do on the workstations. I was sure hoping I could do it with Group Policy since these machines are all over the place.
Thanks for the info though.
I'm a network admin but we are not a Microsoft shop (eDirectory). We have a stand alone network for internet access which we run ISA server on. Users log in to Active Directory on a Windows 2003 Server which runs ISA as well.
We don't really care about this network as far as what people do...
I guess I have to explain the paging better - the world is huge and as you run around it has to load textures for all of the new areas you are moving to. It's not paging the hard drive because it is using the swap file. Sorry for that.
Hi everyone,
I want to upgrade my current system because it has performance issues in Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO).
Current system:
Phenom 9500 2.2GHz
Asus M2N-E
6GB DDR2 800
Radeon 4850 512MB
Samsung Spinpoint 250GB drive
Vista 64
I get horrible frame rates in LOTRO (5-30)...
I had that burner running in my HTPC and it worked great. Recently replaced it with an LG HD-DVD/Blu-Ray DVDRW drive but until then I liked it a lot. Was always quiet during movies.
I replaced an NEC 3540 that quit working and the Pioneer was much quieter.
I built one about two years ago and have been upgrading it from day 1. Currently it is:
A64 X2 4000+ (35w)
Scythe Mini (love it)
2GB RAM
AMD 3850 video card
Asus M2N-E
2xATI Theater 550 Pro NTSC tuners
Sondigo inferno
Logitech Harmony 880
LG HD-DVD/Blu-Ray combo drive
Seasonic 380w...
OK so I have read a bit about CCCP, and it might do the trick. Does it work well with Media Center from anyone's experience? I see that it bundles in ffdshow which is something I have been thinking of trying out anyway.
So I recently upgraded my HTPC and decided to give Vista a try. After finding out my 7600GT would not do hardware acceleration of video I updated it to an HD3850.
I'm still not very impressed with the picture quality either in movies or recorded TV. Both of these are MPEG-2 encoding and I...
BassBomb - the whole problem is that nVidia did not enable hardware acceleration of video in the Vista drivers for the 7x00 series.
error8 - thanks for the info I went with the 3850, it was a bit more than I wanted to spend but if it does full hardware decode of 1080p it will be worth it.
I had my motherboard die in my XP MCE 2005 machine, so I figured I would take the opportunity to upgrade to Vista Media Center.
Unfortunately I have found my video quality of live and recorded SDTV has taken a huge hit, and my CPU is being taxed just watching SDTV.
After a lot of digging...
