Why not get the $122 5750 and use Eyefinity for triple monitors.
5750 is faster than GTS250 and much easier on the power consumption.
5850 is not going to be a bottleneck if you like 8xAA/16 AF and max detail settings.
If you don't care about detail settings and just want higher frame rates then maybe a CPU upgrade will be more important.
Does MSI Afterburner allow the same large increases in core as Smart Doctor?
I know Smart Doctor is good because ASUS was claiming 971 Mhz on 4770 (which was first generation 40nm silicon)
I have a simple question.
Is there something subjectively better about having Physx enabled in game? The reason I mention this is because lots of times people just compare frame rates @ X and Y graphics settings.
Are there any good Overclocking utilities for the HD5750?
How much better is MSI Afterburner than CCC?
I would like to get the core frequency up to 1000 Mhz (a 945Mhz frequency would put the card on par with 5770)
Wreckage,
Why doesn't Nvidia release a die shrink of GTX 285 or GTS 250? Wouldn't they save considerable money by doing this (instead of making GPUs on the expensive 55nm process)
5770 is almost as good as 4870 1 GB and somewhat better than 4870 512 MB.
In DX11 I'm sure it will definitely beat 4870 and probably 4890 (running in DX9 or DX10.x). DX11 coding is supposed to be more efficient than DX9 or DX10.x.
Graphics processing power is the same but 5750 has more memory bandwidth, power usage is significantly reduced also. I'm sure 5750 has way more overclocking headroom too.
If PhysX is so great why don't they let customers mix cards on mobos? (ie, we buy ATI cards for the superior gaming value, but then mix it with a Nvidia card for Physx)
Or maybe Nvidia doesn't want us to use Lucid hydra? But why would they care since they don't even want to make chipsets anymore?
