You obviously aren't familiar with the petrol dollar. We don't go to war in the ME to get their oil... We go there to ensure the petrol dollar is protected at all costs... because it is based on the US dollar. If the dollar loses influence in the world then the US gov't will have a really hard...
The computerized indicators have gotten way better. On our 2005 it was mostly just a mileage counter.
On my 2012 F-150 the oil life sensor is more advanced. Manual calls for oil change interval potentially between 7500 and 10,000 miles on an 8 quart capacity. I only put about 5k miles a year...
Don't worry about it. I usually put stabilizer in my bike over the winter... last winter it sat for almost five months filled with Premium and it was fine. I still ran some injector cleaner through it... It also now hasn't been run for about three months -- sitting on a battery tender though.
I did the Behr one part finish and over the years it has gotten some tire pick up and it has had some chemical spills that caused it to bubble... Cheap enough to over coat... no issues.
I have the 330p ViAIR. You get what you pay for. Everyone in our 4x4 club has them and they allow us to air back up a 33 or 35 inch tire pretty rapidly... I imagine airing up a typical car or truck tire is pretty quick. Yeah they get hot, but the Viairs are built for it. Paid like $147 for...

After he bought it, a few months later the water pump went bad and one of the solenoids or sensors in the tranny went bad... Go figure. Fixed it and it's been solid for him for the last 10 months or so.

I use the ones with the nipple. I hook up a tube, drain them right into my oil jug for recycling. THe only mess I have now is in changing the filters.

When I lived in central NY I ran snows on the rear of my truck... Huge difference in traction... Should have ran them on the front too. You can have the best all season tires and they are still crappy compared to the modern snow tires we have available to us today.
My last truck was a Dodge Dakota which I replaced after 13 years (bought new) of ownership. Never had to replace a single hose after 120k miles.
Our last car was a 2005 Chevy Malibu we just replaced after 13 years and 113k miles. Only hose I had to replace was at 12 years and it was a small 5/8...
