Nope, undervolting in fact at 3.00v. Running the CPU at stock speed otherwise. Maybe I should turn up the a/c in my house...

The heatsink is definitely not getting that hot to the touch, although it's a little hard to tell since the Panaflo is blowing directly down through it. But I don't think it's a problem of heat transfer from the CPU to the heatsink, I've now cleaned, regooped with a carefully applied thin layer...

Ah. Covering it with tape and putting it in goop are good ideas that I hadn't thought about. I guess it would be a good idea to watch the temp reported by the probe and see if it matches the movement of MBM. This should let me know if I'm having good heat transfer to the heatsink. The...

The alarm is both. Generally it seems as if MBM is agreeing with BIOS, although I think that's as it should be, since MBM uses the mobo's sensors, right? I have a fan controller with temp probes, which I stopped using because of the problems I'm having, I wanted the fans at high speed at all...

I have a relatively new K8NXP-SLI with an AMD64 3000+. I'm undervolting the CPU at 3.5v. Recently I have only been able to run the system for about 5 minutes when the temp alarms will go off. MBM shows a CPU temp over 80c, and I shut down. I have reseated the heatsink, cleaned the old goop...

Thanks for the advice, Roomraider. I think I was getting the ports backwards, didn't realize the yellow ones were the nForce. I have the HDD plugged into the nForce SATA ports. I have RAID disabled in BIOS. When I plug the DVD into the nForce ports, BIOS sees it but it hangs at the Windows...

Jax, I found this old post while searching for a problem I'm having. I have the same configuration as you, the K8NXP-SLI and a Plextor SATA DVD. I have been trying with lame help from Gigabyte tech support for a while now to get the Plextor to work with this mobo. Is your system up and running?
