Is this a good chose for a video card or should i wait for GF5 (i know it will not be called the GF5)? Also a few ?'s

Look. here's what you do, buy a GF3, ti200 which you can OC to ti500 easily, you get huge jump over what you have and the card is really pretty good, and it's now CHEAP! Look at all the folks complaining about spending $350 for one! Then you wait for a year or so, you've got a good card so...

Should I upgrade from W2Kpro to XPpro?

Definitely do a clean install. It is always better to do a clean install. Both XP versions upgrade and full, will allow you to do a clean install. If they send you an upgrade type, then you will just have to plug in one of your older version discs, and it can be anything from W95 on up, to...

WinXP product activation and harware upgrades

If it won't let you re-activate on-line, then you will get a 42 digit number!!! That you will have to give the guy when you call in. He, in return will give you a new 42 digit number which you will have to plug into the boxes on your screen. The worst part is trying to get all the numbers...

MSI Ti4200/Gigabyte GA-7VRXP problem...can't run video card at 4x AGP

There's been a lot of people with this problem, and what has worked for many is increasing the voltage to the card. Some have flashed to the F7 BIOS and said that helped too. The new G4's take a lot of power, and you have to give them a little bump apparently

New computer will not start up!

Take it out of the case, set it on something non-conductive, hook up the power supply, the case speaker, and hook the power supply to the hard drive. Leave the CPU and Heatsink on but take out the ram and all the other cards and connectors. Fire it up and see if it gives you beeps telling you...

Emergency need help With dying HDD

I just RMA'd a brand new MAxtor 80gig Liquid drive because it was making hideous noises right out of the box. Replaced it with the WD80, 8meg. which is totally silent. It may all be just a matter of luck.

68 pin ide cable?!?!

Most of the compaq notebook drives I have seen use a 44 pin connector. I don't know if there is one of those beneath the surface of that baby or not, but if you need an adapter, you can get one here

does an aluminum case help much?

There is really no correct answer for every case. In general tho, aluminum does conduct heat better, and the air inside your case is going to be hotter than the air outside the case, so some heat transferrence is going to take place, and aluminum is better at it than steel or plastic. However...

CD-RW and DVD-ROM brands...

There are so many good drives out there, that one of the big considerations is what software they come with. The Liteons come with Nero, which is one of the best packages around and works with XP. Look out for Roxio, they've had big compatability problems.

Uninstalling nvidia drivers

boot into safe mode and then use the add_remove to uninstall the drivers. this usually does a little cleaner job.

Using IDE's

Ya, I've always read that having an ATAPI device, like DVD, cd, etc. on the same channel as the hard drive really impairs the hard drive speed. Having your dvd and cd on different channels is nice if you are copying dvd to cd from what I hear, but I think I would prefer to have the optimal hard...

Hi, I have a question for birddog there; why wouldn't you put the two hard drives on IDE1 as primary and slave, and then the two slower ATAPI devices on the second channel as primary and slave?

Windows XP SP1 UNinstallation question

Why Don't you use the Restore utility to go back to a restore point before you installed SP1? Go to start, programs, accessories, system tools, restore.

Why are you formatting FAT32 and using Windows ME? Why not go NTFS and clean install of XP?
