The short answer is NO...the market isn't there, at least for the Parallel ATA interface... Drive manufacturers are quietly focusing on Serial ATA and will be battling in that arena, meaning if they are targeting a segment like speed or capacity, they'll be focusing more and more on that new...

AMD doesn't like Artic Silver (or other greases)

This might sound stupid, but there's probably a couple of things at work... The sticky stuff is sticky and keeps the heat sink from sliding around... The stuff that is more thermally conductive is slippery, so the HSF slides around more and allows more material to be pushed away from the...

Well, you did a bad thing since having a "loose screw" can drive you to insanity (or is a sign of it)... If you have the time, and good lighting, you may want to remove your mobo and check the traces of your mobo.

Is your mobo's RAID enabled? Are you using a RAID config? If so, there might be a delay to allow the drives to spin up before the "normal" post operations begin. Hope this helps.

IMHO, The board has a bad rap. It's cheap and has a great feature set (DDR+SDR, NIC, Sound), decent performance, and was basically an unreal bargain. So, it hit a very wide audience - from the causal to frequent builder, and some of that audience ran into trouble and grumbled. I'm buying one...

Motherboard to underclock (undervolt) my Athlon...

Nice note also, Joe... I have a number of boxes, and on my main one, I'm starting to plug/unplug drives due to heat from the hard drives. While it may seem cumbersome, it really does make a noticable heat & noise difference.

AMD system recommendations.......please leave your opinions

I'm running the ECSK7S5a w/Lan in one rig and it's been fine (cheap too). The sound playback is ok (I have an extra SB Live! if I find that the recording is bad with it, plus you can use your old RAM until DDR prices get real again. In terms of cases, I like the SuperPower Polaris Mid-Tower...
